What you need to know about registering with the municipality

  • Legal deadline

    You are required to register with your new municipality within 5 days after your moving date.

  • No need to deregister separately

    You do not need to deregister from your old municipality. The new municipality usually handles this automatically through the BRP.

  • DigiD makes it easy

    With DigiD, most municipalities let you report your move online. You usually do not need to visit the town hall.

  • Bring supporting documents

    Bring a valid ID and, if requested, proof that you live at the address, such as your rental contract.
