Frequently asked questions

Everything about moving

Answers to the most common questions about moving, address changes, utilities and more.

How early should I start planning?
Ideally, you start 6 to 8 weeks before your moving date. That gives you enough time to arrange utilities, address changes and packing without unnecessary stress.
When should I report my address change?
You can report your move to the municipality from 4 weeks before your moving date until no later than 5 days after it. Also update your address as early as possible with your bank, insurer and other organisations.
What does an average moving company cost?
The cost of a moving company can vary a lot. For an average move within the Netherlands, expect roughly €400–€1200 depending on the size of the home, the distance and any extras such as packing.
How do I submit my utility meter readings?
Write down the meter readings on the day you leave. Send them to your energy supplier through their website or customer service and ask for confirmation by email.
Can I end my rental contract early?
That depends on the notice period in your rental contract, usually one calendar month. Always communicate in writing with your landlord and keep the confirmation of termination.
Why does Direct-Regelen.nl show comparators from Daisycon?
We use Daisycon's comparators so you can view current offers while arranging your move, for example for energy, internet and TV. If you switch or apply through a comparator, Direct-Regelen.nl may receive a commission. This does not cost you anything extra. Daisycon uses affiliate cookies and matching data to anonymously recognise that an application came through this website.
