Forward your post
Set up mail forwarding and update your address with subscriptions and organisations.
About this phase
Report your address and move to the municipality, insurers and mail services. Use our checklist so you do not forget anything.
Forward your post to your new address
Request PostNL's moving service so important mail is temporarily forwarded automatically.
Mail forwarding is temporary
Use forwarding as a safety net, but update your address manually as well. That is the only way to avoid post continuing to arrive at the old address later on.
Step-by-step guide
- 1Request mail forwarding for the first period after your move so you do not miss important post.
- 2Update your address separately with important organisations such as your employer, bank, GP, school and webshops.
- 3Check subscriptions, delivery services and clubs where your address may still be in use.
- 4After a few weeks, review the forwarded post to see which addresses still need updating.
Useful tips
- Start with parties that send financial or medical post, so you avoid the biggest risks there.
- Create a checklist of all organisations that still send post to your old address.
